For those of you who have an x-fi and have had the crackling popping noises (or heard me bitch about them for that matter...) I've come across this quite informative article in creative's forums that shed some light on the subject and helped somewhat as well..

The popping seems to come at random times during different games for people, but all seems to be something to do with the x-fi using resources it's not designed to do or not supposed to anyway depending on how you read that article *scratches head* why I'm getting a different card because of the craptastic driver support from creative anyway Though what I'll do with the x-fi I don't know just yet..heh

Re: X-Fi Crackling/Popping Noises
I used to get the crackling and popping in BF2 when I was running XP 32. When I reinstalled thee OS one time it ceased. Then when I constructed my new rig using Vista Ultimate 64 the problem started again. But the latest driver from creative fixed that and other problems (finally!)

Re: X-Fi Crackling/Popping Noises
I have been tackling this issue along with another for almost 4 months now. I couldnt use my SLI setup because after 10 minutes my X-Fi would give out a loud pitched beeeeep, which can only be fixed by a restart. After months and months of waiting for Creative to fix it, I realized that they weren't gonna do shit about it. I RMA'ed the card and it should be here this week. For many people, that fixed it.
