Thanks for the linkage bigdog, I did not know anyone was still selling the 939 FX chips. I just assumed I would have to ebay for one. I have bought many things from directron.com in the past, always without problems.

Erm, that's the whole thing... the cards ARE in sli mode dog... and I know I've got the most recent video card drivers because I've been a frequent user of drivercleaner.net for some time.. (nvidia control panel confirms that sli is enabled even..) Is there somewhere else to look that I'm not aware of registry setting or something perhaps to find that?

Besides the "enable SLI mode" button on the "Nvidia control panel" you need to go to "3d settings" on the "nvidia control panel" and under the "global settings" or "program settings" tab select the type of SLI rendering to use; most people have the best luck with "Alternate Frame Rendering 1" but really large high resolution displays also seem to like "split frame rendering"

if you have already done all this, I apologize for butting in!

Just curious, what resolution are you running at?

1280x1024 on a Samsung Syncmaster 930B default 60hz as well... and I hadn't noticed that setting in the 3d global, do you know it was set to single gpu? that might very well explain some things... I suppose I'd assumed that with the seperate profiles for the games that it was taken care of automatically, have to see how that goes

It was set to global because resolutions of 1280x1024 may actually be hampered from running SLI...

What were the individual appliction settings?

you can type "renderer.drawfps 1" in the console in BF2142 to see your framerates, in the upper lefthand corner you will get two numbers separated by a slash. the first is actual frames per second, the next number is time between frame in ms.

I recommend trying each SLI mode for awhile and watching the framrate to see which works best for you.

Honestly, SLI seems to actually hamper framerate at resolutions 1280x1024 and lower. I lose about 10 FPS at 1280x1024 in any of the SLi dual card rendering modes. But at 1600x1400 I gain about 10 FPS. Most people dont need SLI and dont even realize it is not actually activated.

so you've enabled in in software, you've got the SLI bridge plugged into both card, it's enabled in your BIOS (if there even is a setting for that).........so NOW run a 3dMark, and post up the dynamic link.

maybe an FX-55 for less http://cgi.ebay.com/AMD-Athlon-64-FX...QQcmdZViewItem

unlocked....so add some volts, and OC them up to 2.8 or 3.0Ghz.
I would have thought the price of the 939 FX chips would have dropped lower. Do you know how a 3.0ghz FX-55/57 chip compares to Core 2 Duos for gaming?

the FX-57 is single core, and fast as a mother fuck, in terms of OC-ing. The last of the single core'd, FX's.

but for CPU benchmarks...of course it's going to get killed, since it's only a single core.
    http://www23.tomshardware.com/cpu_20...=432&chart=174

but in 3d power....stock.....it can hang with an E6600 (short about 10-15%). But you don't buy an FX processor because you want to run it at stock.

    hence why it's $300.

Why do I always get Nick when I host a campaign?

as title suggests, i would like to know how to rectify this problem and get a random character whenever i host a game. Or is there any settings i can configure to start a game with my desired character. i already know the sv_cheats 1; sb_takecontrol "x" method. what i am looking for is a permanent change of character. please advise. thank you.
