The proccesor is great, but what is so fancy about the mobo to justify a $260 price tag? I'm sure Mcstrange can find you a better deal than that.

From what i found on newegg.com:

    Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 $189.99
ASUS MAXIMUS FORMULA LGA 775 Intel X38 $259.99
    Total (tax and shippin) $490.12

And if you save money on the mobo, you can get a nice PCIe Video card.

    Re: Yes or No

Lmao, fix your first post, you listed it as the e6750 but linked the e6850.

As for memory i personally have two of these (4 gigs total) and have never had any problem from them, for $37, you cant beat that..

A lot, that mobo is freakin loaded with the newest bells and whistles as well as mad overclock support. Of course, I wouldnt recommend geting it unless you got money to blow and want to spend a lot of money on premium parts; Quad core extreme, Crossfire ATI high end cards, 4 gigs of high end memory, etc.

That motherboard supports ATI Crossfire (like SLI but for ATI). If you did get this motherboard you would be better off to get an ATI card that supports crossfire; this way if in the future you decide to go dual video card, you can get another ATI.

If you are willing to fork out premium dough for such an elaborate Mobo, get the video card to match. Maybe a set of crossfire Sapphire 2900XT's?

Actually this Mobo has serious memory support; get some DDR-2 1066 or better so you can OC it. Also, get 4 gigs since it supports 8.

If you are going to fork out premium dough for this sweet mobo, maybe you should get some Corsair Dominator memory?

    The previous recommendations are sarcastic.

yeah, a few of us can and I would agree: that motherboard is sweet, but unless you got money to burn and are going to get the processor, memory, and video cards it was intended for.

Do yourself a favor and spend less than 170. And if you don't plan on getting two video cards, don't get an SLI/Crossfire mobo; they cost more.

    My vote is is No.

Get yourself one of the 130 dollar Asus P5 series Mobos with DDR-2 800 support, 2x1Gb dual channel DDR-2, and an 8800 GT.

The processor is pretty sweet though.
