Memory Standard DDR2 800

Intel Core 2 Duo E6850
1333MHz FSB

So FSB speed =/= to memory speed. Was that the confusion?

Seriously, if you are wanting to spend 2k drop more on the mobo to get a faster memory bus.
Any updated suggestions on the mobo in light of this?
It sounds like the speed of the RAM, Motherboad, and Chip all need to line up?

Yea, the ASUS P5N32-E linked above shows:
Memory Standard - DDR2 800

With intel CPUs syncing the CPU fsb and the memory bus is not as important as with the AMD chips. Its nice, but your not going to have a huge drop in performance using DDR2 800 vs using DDR3 1333

So what I take from that is stick with 800mhz DDR2 and the motherboard I had linked.

Sounds like to DDR3/1333 RAM and motherboard that will support it could get expensive quickly.
EEK - just checked out what 2GB would cost for DDR3. Never mind, I can't afford to go that route.

I was just looking through Mobos that support >800 memory. Any that are SLI are very expensive. But since you are not going SLI, you could get one of the non-SLI 1066 mobos. And they still use DDR2, but DDR2 rated at 1066 gets pretty steep. Also, should you get yourself a 28" monitor in the future, or when DX10 saturates the market, having the option for SLI might make for a cheap upgrade in the future.

Anything to add in the monitor realm ? I do want something that is on par with this machine I am having built.

I currently have a Dell E173FP (flat screen freebie when I bought this machine 3 years ago). I suspect it isn't the best thing in the world, but it does work.

a really nice 19 inch, or better yet a widescreen in the 22 inch range would compliment it very well.

Samsung makes some excellent fast 22 inchers

I've got a nice 24" ACER LCD monitor that you should look into purchssing. 1920x1200 resolution, works GREAT with BF2 and all other games.

After rebate, I think it was like $350.00. Worth every single penny, hope to get my second one shortly after the holidays. I've got a buddy who has a 36" flat panel monitor, that seems to be overkill.... can't see the small pixels like you'de like too.

I am using a ViewSonic VX922 and love it. 19" 1280x1024 and fast at 2ms. around 250 bucks right now. That is key for gaming monitors. If it is LCD look for a fast one. 8ms or less will work fine, but lower is better. Typically larger monitors have slower refresh rates unless you fork out premium dough. Like I said less than 8ms and you are good to go. Slower than that and you get "ghosting."

that 24 inch mentioned above sounds nice but i dunno what the refresh rate is. like soy said, less is better. i have a 22 inch samsung with 5ms so thats like 200fps i suppose. its cheaper now than it was last christmas...about 250-300 bucks currently i think. I love it.
