Re: New help
I recommend the E6850 over the Q6600 processor... you can see my extensive argument here: http://www.texasteamplayers.com/index.php?topic=27279.0
They are both very nice processors however; but for gaming purposes, the dual core outperforms the quad core because it is a faster CPU. But if you do a lot of 3d modelling or use a lot of other multi-threaded apps, go Quad Core.
Sweet Mobo... but you can probably get the same or more for little cheaper...
Since you have an ATI card maybe look at one of the ATI chipset motherboards... perhaps make sure it says "Crossfire" support for future expandability...

Re: New help
im not worried about the sli and crossfire for this. When and if i get into the newer games, I dont have time to play all these games. Im part of the World Cyber Games so i have to pratice on Starcraft. If i do though im going crossfire. and i agree on the cpu i just wasnt sure if i should go ahead and get a quad seeing as they are the same price.

But the benefit of multi card rendering wont be really appreciable until you get ridiculously large monitors. Although for wimpy video cards (6x series Nvidia) SLI provides a much bigger boon.
I have always felt that if I am not getting the jaggies with everything turned all the way up, why push it farther? and with your ATI you best be getting no jaggies with that mobo and proc.
You will need to get yourself some RAM too...

Re: New help
Yea the mobo is ddr2 i have ddr so i will be updating that as well. theres 2 ways i can do it. buy a piece a month ($200 a month) but doing it that way everything will be WAY out of date by the time i get it. So im going to save up for 3 months and spend under $600 on the mobo , cpu and 2-3 gigs of ram. If i get it cheap enough ill get 4.

Re: New help
The first thing that jumps out at me is "Linked Display Adapters: Yes". If I remember right, that means he's running his system in Crossfire mode. I also wonder why his memory clock is nearly double yours (398MHz versus 762MHz), although I'd figure it's just a detection error, but your memory speed should NOT be less than your core speed.

Gamebattles New Season
It's a new season of L4D1 and L4D2 on gamebattles. There have been quite a few new teams joining recently and these new teams need other people to play against. There are advantages you will not have access to in any clans outside of gamebattles. The advantages are:
- No rage quitting. Rage quitting is the worst thing about L4d, and gamebattles virtually eliminates it. If you're good at this game you'll only be able to finish around 10 to 20% of team versus matches. In gamebattles completed matches are over 90%.
- The largest competitive gaming site means you will have more competition. More fun games played right through the finale.
- With a sophisticated ranking system that will put you up against teams of similar skill you will see your improvement tracked.
- Gamebattles has the best teams that play this game. The largest competitive pool means that we're always improving. If you're new to competitive gaming then gamebattles offers the largest cap to your improvement. No other clan or competitive group will offer the skill level that we have to offer.
- A large centralized group but still a close community. You'll get to know a lot of people and will gain access to friends-only games which are competitive but fun, and offer invaluable lessons to new teams.
- Set rules that make the game more balanced and fun for everyone. Hate the autoshottie in L4D1? There's a starter weapons only rule that limits the autoshottie use. As well, there are other rules which limit cheating and glitch playing.
- Forums where you can ask for advice or watch videos of team games. The videos will let you see how the top teams play and are an invaluable tool for improving skill.
Anyone who makes a team I will personally show you how to be competitive in this game (as long as there aren't too many teams starting up, if that happens I'll try to find someone who can show you the ropes). I play for one of the top teams in both games so you can learn a lot in a short period of time. Contact me if you start a team and we'll play a match, or I can start showing you what you need to learn to get ready for your first match.
