When you find yourself asking that question, it's time to upgrade.

    Download this program ---> http://pc-wizard-2008.en.softonic.com/download

It'll give you all the info about your pc.

    Re: agp?

What kind of computer is it?

    What video card?

Do you know what kind of motherboard if it's a custom build?

Give us some of that info, and there are those of us who can tell you from that info.

AGP is a smaller slot. Simple way if you don't know what you got is to pop the side off your case and take a look at it. You can also post your motherboard information here and I'm sure someone will come along and help you out.

Computers with AGP still have a PCI bus. What you are looking for is either a PCI-E (PCI Express) or AGP. We could help you if knew your model of motherboard (may be stamped somewhere on it).

Or it'll show during boot if you have the splash screen enabled.

    Re: agp?

Depends on how old the computer is.

First off, is this a store bought computer or did someone put it together for you?

Second, when did you get this computer?

If it is really old it might even be PCI.

Raven is right though, AGP is a lot smaller of a slot than PCI or PCI-E.

    Re: agp?

Since you are asking, I am assuming you have no idea what everyone means by "smaller" so here are some pics to illustrate:

PCI-E slots, the BLUE and BLACK ones are the PCI-E slots and the white ones are PCI.

AGP slot, the reddish colored slot is the AGP slot.

But really, giving us the model of your mobo from either a stamp on it or the information given when you first boot your computer may allow us to give you yet more information. AGP has several speeds available and that may affect decisions somewhat.

    Re: agp?

Those colors are vendor specific some times. Don't rely on color to tell you what it is. Tell us the make and model and we'll let you know. Alternatively, tell us how old the computer is. 5+ is probably AGP.
