that system that mcstrange threw up there should play cod4 just fine, maybe not on the high graphics but it will work. now i dont see why you need a 550W psu...maybe 500W will work and save you some dough and you can put it towards a new monitor or even a better graphics card. graphics card is the single most important piece for gaming i believe...of course processors are important too.

Listen to the wisdom... The people who monitor this area of TTP tend to be very accurate in their assesments.

If only TTP had a investment portfolio thread with the same level on accuracy. We wouldn't need to worry about upgrades, because we would be rich.

My most important piece of hardware?
Monitor. Hands down.
The primary method that your PC gets information into your head is by far the most important piece of hardware. You can have the latest and greatest everything, but if its pushing a 17 inch fuzzy CRT monitor from 1995 your graphics card doesnt mean shit.

Case is also important...look at the sizes of the GPU cards now, they are getting bigger with the more horsepower their putting out. You'll wanna def ditch your old one, even if you don't get a "big" vid card now, at least you'll be prepared for upgrades..always think ahead with your purchases...plan for future

most newer and bigger cases also provide ease of installation and thermal dissipation, allowing for more fans and air flow through to get that heat out...heat is bad...
