1 graphics question..

Hey, i'm new to ArmA, i've came from the PR forums

So about graphics, (i'm playing the demo if that makes any difference, still deciding if i should by it) and i was CERTAIN i could play this on very high graphics with 10km view distance. But with everything on very high and x8 AA, i have to use a res. of 800x600 with 100 refresh rate or i would be lucky to get 5 FPS, so with very high and 800x600, i get around 20 in the open, 10 in cities, and like 3 in forests, so any suggestions for my computer? (And yes i have downloaded the lastest drivers for my card :P)

Specs:

Intel Core 2 Quad 6600 @ 2.4ghz
4gig of RAM (but windows XP only recognises 3.5 of it)
nVidia 8800GTX 728mb (or 768mb? I can never remember which one it is)

I can't really answer your question, but I think you might get more abundance of help if this was in the hardware board so i'm moving there.

Where you put it was fine, and it might have been answered there but I'm moving it in the hopes you'll get more response in the hardware forums.

I'm no guru but I think the video card you got is made to perform on higher resolutions. Are you only trying 800X600?

I'm a little confused, are you just wanting to know how else to improve your frame rate?

I haven't touched ArmA, but you might just have to reduce some settings to even see if it helps at all. If it doesn't it could be the demo or something else could be wrong someone who has played the game might be able to tell you more though.

It looks like you have a pretty solid machine so I wouldn't think the hardware would be the problem, but I could be wrong.

Just out of curiosity, what kind/size of monitor are you using?

Well, i figured out what kills my system, its the AA, i can now run everything on very high (disabled AA) with max res, with an average of 30, but its weird that i cant even run x2 AA without the FPS dropping realllly bad. Oh and my monitor is some ollllllllllllld 19". But yea, i've seen some computers that are not so good as mine run everything maxed out with an average of 40fps. So it could be the demo, it could be my computer. We will see when i buy the game later on....when i have money, all my money is going to pilot lessons :P.

If it's really that old, a new monitor might help with the fps some, but don't take my word for it.
