Re: Which OS?
Soy,
I was running Vista 64bit with 2gb ram. It could be the internet was choppy that day. I'll try it tonight and see if it looks better. Thanks for the info though now I'm determined to get it working. Although I'm not running high performance ram. Funny thing is this all works great with XP.The artist formerly known as SlytherN

The only major problems with Vista right now is FUD (Look it up if you don't know what it is). SLIGHTLY lower performance for a much more secure operating system. I have not found a game that hasn't run just fine on Vista. For the first 6 months after release last year, yes, Vista sucked. There are enough patches out and SP1 just around the corner that it's a completely viable gaming platform. There's drivers for pretty much everything, and most vendors have had chances to patch any application incompatibilities. I'm running the SP1 release candidate and everything is fine.

Re: Which OS?
I am running vista basic home 64 and love it. I recommend getting the DDR 2 ram though if you are going to the vista anything. I also have the e6850 with 3 gigs of ballistics 800mhz ram and a nvidia 8600, everything on high. Very fast. There are a few quarks you might have to work out to get it running smoothly for vista but definatly worth the time and effort.

Re: Which OS?
It seems like a lot of people just don't like Vista on principle, but I've been using it for almost a year now on my gaming laptop and haven't had any compatibility issues with games or anything else. Yes, it puts a slight drain on resources, and it is a little disconcerting at first to look at your memory usage and see 500 MB of RAM used idle, but it does a good job of load balancing, and I like the pretty window transparencies.

Re: Which OS?
incompatibility issues with Creative hardware, older game engines, and driver support for both hardware and software........
I won't switch to vista till it hits SP2. XP was unstable, hack ridden, and worthless till SP2 as well....so I think that's fair.

Iron in XP you can get the same sort of transparencies just need to use a program such as windows blinds or something like it.
I did have issues for some reason my ATI x1600 was not able to work with DoD:S. Last June/July before I returned to solely XP I was in Vista and I was not able to play because it says that I needed to update video drivers and how ever many times I downloaded and updated nothing would fix it. Got back into XP and viola! it worked perfectly.
I just do not want to blow money on Vista if it is not going to be much of an improvement.

While the 458 Italia is no where in plain site, Ferrari is using a little section at Chrysler’s display to reveal off the Ferrari 599XX.
Power for the Ferrari 599XX comes from a 6.0L V12 engine making 700-hp with a maximum torque of 479 lb-ft. Ferrari also added a new F1 inspired gearbox that transfers strength to the wheels with gear deviate time cut down to 60 ms.
The Ferrari 599XX is only available to a select group of clients and we’re not one of them.
