Re: Display memory
A general rule to follow in regards to requirements stated by game developer. Try to have double.
BF2142 runs obviously well with medium range graphics card with 256MB of Dedicated Graphics card memory and most laptop share their graphics card memory from the main System Memory (RAM)."And the hits just keep on coming." - Tom Cruise, A Few Good Men

Re: Display memory
Essentially, there are two factors to consider looking at whether a laptop can run the game: how fast the card is, and how new. Very old cards (pre- nVidia Go 6x00 line) may not have the required Pixel Shader Model 2.0 standard, and very low-end integrated cards (like the ATI/AMD X2x00 series, which is really popular in laptops now) won't be fast enough or have enough video memory to play the game at any decent framerate.
That said, what are the specs?
