I've got that CPU and it's great. With some aftermarket cooling, I'm up to 3.2 GHz (and I could probably go higher, but I'm at stock voltage now and it runs plenty fast). I've got a P5Kc mobo
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...31188&Tpk=p5kc -- it's quite a bit cheaper and it will probably do what you want. One complaint is the onboard RealTek sound doesn't do surround very well.
