Re: Benchmarks / Overclocking / E-peen!
Xav....gigabyte mobo's dont overclock too well...its going to be along and meticulous process. The issue wsith gigabytes is that they get a lot of blue screens when theyre overclocked and the wrong voltage is set. The benefit behind evga or asus mobos, is that they are a little more forgiving if you have a voltage on lets say your north bridge a little too high, or the voltage to your ram is too high...itll still work, just get a little hot, as to where on a gigabyte you have to be DEAD ON and precise with the voltage settings or else the thing wont boot ro give you blue screens as soon as you boot into windows.
Another issue is that this is a 650i chipset working with a newer aged Q6600....as to where and older Dual core would act more stable with this....
First thing you need to do is google the same exact mobo and cpu combo you have and see if anyone else out there has the same thing and if theyve achieved a stable OC with them.....i will do some digging for ya.
Get into the bios and make sure that there is a section to adjust your FSB (front side bus), ram voltage, north bridge/cpu voltage etc.....also find iof there is a section for changing the memory timings, as you will need to loosen the timings to a higher number to get your overclock stable.
I know this sounds like a lot of blah blah......but i found that reading is your best friend when it comes to learning this stuff.....read read read read like its a fuckin college exam your studying for.....
stay tuned...hopefully i find ya link or 2 to reference to.

Re: Benchmarks / Overclocking / E-peen!
I have checked my BIOS for these settings and I do have them. The only one I haven't found is the one for adjusting your memory timings. I have done research but as far has the exact combination I haven't got anything solid. So far this is what I have come up with that sounds helpful and have read it and downloaded programs. On the other hand when it comes to going into the BIOS I am just scared of blowing my sh** up and would rather have someone that has done it before walk me through it or get me something solid with the exact combinations.
