Re: who uses alienware computers? & and how good are they?
you guys are funny...
Ok for the OP.. if you buy Alienware, your buying a dell. Dell owns Alienware as of last year some time and if you look at thier web page and build a system... its the same engine and format.
As for Overclocking... The day i have to OC an 8800gtx to play ill just get a new card, it aint worth the hasle.

The entry level dell xps is 1500 bucks... I could build a system that would run rings around that xps for that money... Hell the system I have $700 into is just as good if not better than the xps... The 2nd choice for the xps they say you get *overclocked memory* LOL? oc'd from 800mhz to 1066.. It is already 1066mhz memory to begin with. Its not oc'd they are just making it run at what its supposed to. If you have more money then sense then by all means by a dell/alienware.

Your pricing makes no sense to me or you are looking at the wrong numbers.

mmm yeah that ati 128 meg card will blister through some graphic intense games....
I started out with the 720 series... and yes I could build a better pc for $1499 .. and that is what the Level 1 720 starts out at..
lets not forget the water cooled dell for 3k.. http://www.dell.com/content/topics/s...=19&l=en&s=dhs
With that kind of money you could build a really nice system with a small single stage phase change keeping it at sub zero temperatures...
Sorry bud you will never convince me that buying a dell is the way to go...
Even if you have no clue on how to put a pc together.. You are better off getting someone who knows or hell even watching some tutorial videos on how to put one together... The satisfaction you get from putting your own pc together and hitting that power button for the first time is worth 10 dells.

RMA issues with bought parts is tedious and long. I have quite a few parts laying around for testing but the normal person doesn't. Downtime is almost always gonna be 3-6 weeks on RMA issues. That is a long time with no pc. Frustrating too.
Most prebuilt machines have a great turn around time on warranty issues. Dell and HP have next business day for most machines and onsite techs built into the cost. One reason why it is high in cost but it is a piece of mind for that gamer who just doesn't have the time, patience, knowledge, skill, or hardware to fix those issues.
No offense was ever intended by my posts. Just a different point of view is all.
