Take your licks
(Before starting this thread, I looked for a thread to add a reply to instead, but they were all really old. I made a new thread rather than necrobump)
It seems like some people only hang around if there are really bad players on the other team to whip up on, especially in scanvange. They'll hang around through rounds and rounds of total domination by their team only to quit as soon as they lose a round. Let me give you an example:
I joined a scavenge game in progress. My team was infected first, and the other team already had 9 cans. (I have a baaad feeling about this.)We stop them at just 9, so there's hope. When it was our turn, I noticed that it seemed that one of our split screeners doesn't play the game much. He ran off by himself, had problems dealing with the horde and couldn't shot the SI very quickly. Now, DON'T misunderstand me. I'm NOT saying all split screeners suck, but this one did.
It was a best of 5 match and we got beat soundly the first 2 rounds, but I thought to myself, "one more round and it will be all over no need to rage quit". Just then, the split screeners themselves rage quit.
We won the next round and the other teams started rage quitting like crazy. Now, you could argue that they were justified in rage quitting because, well, two of our players did, but it just makes me feel like they were only sticking around to whip up on the shitty players. I'm usually glad when the sucky guys on the other team quit. Competitive games are more fun!
I suppose they could have just had other things to do as well, but it's a bit annoying when you stick with a shitty team only to have the other team quit as soon as thing get completive.
I'm good now. I got it off my chest.

Edward isn't a vampire. He lives in the forest, he doesn't eat people and he sparkles. He's obviously a fairy.

Thus is the mindset of your typical public player, they're pretty much everywhere.
They'll stick around if they are players that are even worse than they are because it's a relatively easy win. I guess it makes them feel like their "pros" at L4D every time they wipe the floor with less experienced players. Yet once you pair them up against a competent team, they'll run with their tails between their legs at the first sign of trouble. All 4 survivors clear the map, double digit scavenge cans then BAM!, they're gone.
In this situation, their ragequit is totally unjustified. Your teammates may have left first, but that's rarely a reason for players to leave themselves unless they felt that you would leave too and wanted to spare themselves the frustration. But they did all leave as soon as you started to catch up, so they can't really defend that. Lastly, entire teams leaving is a sign of pure ragequit.
Isn't sad that some people in L4D can't handle a proper challenge? The cowards only stay if they're winning so they can get a big head about it.Parlock: I'm sorry, I'm an idiot who can't read XD.Teenracer6: I hate salt, it's too salty.Parlock: Taking in TP's sweet, sweet buttsweat didn't make me gag
