You're doing it wrong
The majority of forums that run on the same program as this site support user pages, on which us forumers can leave comments for one another and have semi-private conversations through. I'm on a lot of forums, and one thing I've noticed about the L4D boards is that when it comes to the visitor message system...
Many of you reply to messages left for you by leaving a comment in return on your own page. you are actually supposed to go reply via the page of the user to whom you are speaking.
When you reply this way, that user receives a notice that they have an unread visitor message, just like you did when they left one on your page to begin with. Also, if you use the system correctly, you can view your conversation in a stacked, chronological, easy to read order by clicking the "view conversation" button.
I'm not chewing anyone out here, or calling names. I'm just saying that some of you don't do it right, and I am trying to correct you.
