i'd also like to put in a plug for lazy people. my friend started this website back in 1995, it's still going strong.
PC Drivers Headquarters
basically, it scans all of the installed driver files, and all of the installed device PCI IDs, to determine if there is a newer driver available for any device in your system. then it will link to the newer driver for you to install.
