Overclocking CPU question
Ok so i have a Gigabyte GS-M61P-S3 Motherboard, and an AMD 64 X2 Dual core 5000+ Black Edition.
Im trying to maintain a stable oc of 2.6ghz to 3.0ghz
I bumped my fsb from 200 to 232 and the voltage from 1.300 to 1.325. Multiplier 13x.
Im at 3.003 ghz.....am i ok or do i need to adjust anything? Reviews on newegg show people hitting 3.2ghz w/o water cooling...posting just fine.
Am i at a good setting or do i need more voltage? What should i do to make it stable from 3.0ghz-3.2ghz? Cmon groove, strange, makeout inform me some more. :8
Here's cpu-z pic just incase:

Re: Overclocking CPU question
most of what i know is about intel. i would think that voltage is good. what are your ram settings and frequency? have you tried to go beyond that fsb? maybe your board doesnt like the fsb you are at? you can always try bumping the voltage and see what happens. If the same thing happens at 1.4V then its not the voltage. there are many things you can try. i would keep everything constant and just change a single thing at a time to troubleshoot.

Re: Overclocking CPU question
Well to check for stability you need to run orthos for a few hours on the small FFT test... That will check your cpu ... to check your ram you need memtest.
http://www.memtest86.com/download.html
get that and make a bootable cd .. then set your machine to boot from cdrom ... the test takes about 2 hours for the whole thing.
You really should be overclocking from the bios and not that asus program.

Re: Overclocking CPU question
your fsb might be high. you are over 400MHz there. Try dropping it to 400 while you are doing the OC. then test for stability. if you are stable then try bumping it up. you are running loose timings so thats fine for now, maybe you can try 4-4-4-12 later after you find a stable OC on your CPU. good luck and remember trying to up the voltage just to see if that helps.
