I believe it's a glitch where survivors and infected are able to move while crouching, but at full speed. As a Hunter it lets you move around at full speed and pounce without crouching first, although I'm not sure what other benefits it has. It can be done by glitching yourself with the environment (ladders/boxes).. Thus, it's a glitch, and could be considered bad sportsmanship.

Also Hunters do not make sound when crabwalking, thus it makes it very complicated to pinpoint them.
