After reading some reviews this is an older v1 SSD, and has some flaws. Most reviews say wait for the v2 prices to come down. Sorry for the false alarm.

I have an ASUS EEE PC with a 4G SSD drive...

I know it's freakishly small...but the laptop has a 7" screen and is SOLELY for going to school, takin notes, checking email/ttp online, and jacking off in bed...

I LOOVE having the SSD mainly for it's shock protection...

9 times out of ten, when you drop a laptop and it does, it's the HDD that fails, the read needle/laser/whatever punctures a disc....i know that won't happen on my laptop. EVERYTHING inside of it is solid and bolted/plugged together. no loose or free-floating bits or pieces :-P

I really want one of those specifically fo school... My big 'ol 15.4" I use for design and gaming is way to bulky and makes me tired when coupled with a pile of science texts.

On topic.. I am so eager for SSD to become mainstream. They need to sell off the warehouses full of magnetic HDDs before that price drops enough though...

Yeah, I think the days of "spinning" parts (except fans) is coming to an end. Solid state HD's, and the way things are going I doubt we will be using disc media in 5 - 10 years. The SS drives will come down and they will have a "hot swap" style drive to replace your DVD drive (external sata already exists).

What kind of cpu / ram would you need if you didnt want a bottleneck going on? So the drive is almost instant with the info (100mb/s? what) but can a modern chip process that info fast enough?

While that is a major issue new laptops have accelerometers to detect falls. They will retract the heads before impact to avoid hitting the platters. I realize that they are not in the compact laptops yet.

Off topic, but how is your EEE? I was interested in them for an extra system.

How are the long term tests on SSD's? At work the biggest issue a few years ago was write cycles. We chose not to use them in because of the fear of data loss.

I cant wait for these things to come down in price! I am getting tired of listening to the whine of my 250gb HD. My dad at work has boxes with like 4 of the high quality SSD put together, like 1k for each one!
