I bought this thanks to Soy, and use it on my gaming machine. So far no problems whatsoever.

Well, except the pesky UAC preventing CSS from even launching! But that was quickly remedied...

All Vista users: DISABLE "USER ACCOUNT CONTROL!"

Don't Disable UAC. Have it silently accept all prompts. Yes. There is a difference. They have a detailed article on the Tweak UAC website somewhere. Perhaps later I'll go dig it out.

Apparently, MS is going to continue this policy for Windows 8, so I might be sticking with XP 64 for a long time.

I've had Vista 64 for a good 9 months now and the only problem I've had was with my printer not working with the print server we had since the print server was old and did not like Vista in general. Not a big deal to me though as I can live with only have 1 pc able to use the printer at a time since I do most of the printing anyways.

It helps to know how to configure your OS though since as Soy said, you can disable the driver signing enforcement. And I rarely use drivers that are not signed anyways unless I know they are coming from a trusted source such as nvidia and their beta drivers, but that is about it.

UAC is pointless to me because I'm the only one that uses my pc and if I fuck up, I know it's my fault. I would advice you to turn it off if you are the only one that uses your pc.

With the advent of drive-by malware, all it takes is one wrong click and your PC is screwed. UAC prevents some, if not all drive-by malware because IE (or Firefox, or Opera) do not run with administrator privileges and really... turning it to silent is just as easy as turning it off. Microsoft just doesn't provide you a nice GUI to do that... Hence... Tweak UAC. You get most of the benefits of UAC, without the nagging. You just have to add the 'Run as Administrator' to the compatibility tab on any shortcut that needs it. The only game I currently have installed that requires that is BF2... Everything else runs just fine without.
