Jason found a deal on the Q6600 for 199 somewhere (it's in these threads). You might be able to get that CPU and then buy a different Mobo/RAM combo somewhere else...

so i wouldn't have much fun with that mobo? I'm a noob when it comes to memory speeds so im guessing that's what making the bundle cheap?

Well that Mobo probably offers the standard high-end OC options for Asus Mobos using that chipset (680i). And it would be plenty for you to work with.

But a few things to consider:
The standard chipset now is newer: 750i or 780i for Nvidia, P31/35 for intel. And of course chipset revisions usually come with more tools to have fun with.
If you are going to go SLI, since you are selecting an SLI mobo, this Mobo does support full PCI-E 2@16x which is nice. But are you going to go SLI?

If you get the chipset Jason linked to, you could get a newer motherboard and then some memory for about the same price.

for a Grand total of 450.99... 435.99 after 15 dollar Mail in Rebate. If you get Jason's deal it would be about 395 bucks.

So I did not save you anything if you cant get a deal on the proc, but this is a newer/faster setup.

I have that exact mobo only eVGA...it works good for me...no complaints...got over 4000 point gain in 3dmark after OC'ing...

Now, against my better judgement, I'm going to turn a blind eye to it. I've PMed him and let him know this is the case, but if he steps out of line again, he's gone permanently. No infractions, no warnings, he is gone.
You're all excellent mods and judges of what is and isn't appropriate behaviour, so I'll ask you all to bear that in mind when dealing with him. He's had plenty of warnings before, and the only reason I've allowed it this time is that a precedent was set with Joe The Zombie, so to deny it to Vooodu would be unfair.

Let's hope against hope that he takes this one seriously. :-/
