Issues running games.
Not sure if this is supposed to be here or in off the server or what, but yeah.
I'm having problems whenever I launch garry's mod, team fortress2, portal, and a couple of other games. When I launch them, my internet crashes from 2-10 minutes.
If I lived by myself it would be an inconvenience but I would deal with it. BUT I don't live alone, and both my parents are avid gamers so they get pissed when I crash them out of their games. I haven't been able to play TF2 for a couple of months now and i'm missing it. Not to mention i'd like to play the other games that I bought.
I tried doing the 'verify game cache' thing that someone suggested to me, but that did no good. Any ideas?

You running an onboarrd NIC? (network interface card) or is a seperate NIC card? Have you checked the router to make sure it is not blocking your traffic? Have you checked over the network cable, has a cat chewed it and causing it to ground out, hence it kicking your parents off. Just idea's.

Re: Issues running games.
Well I had several tech geeks try to figure it out we tried a hell of a lot of things and nothing seems to work. We thought it was the router but its only steam games that seem to do it, i'm also having trouble with steam in general. I tried reinstalling that previously and it didn't fix the problems it was having. There are no firmware updates for my router. I have cable internet so the router acts as the modem as well. I cannot bypass and try plugging it directly into the wall because of that. But yeah we've tried a lot of shit. If reformatting doesn't work i'll see about a new router potentially.
And I haven't done it yet because i'm dreading the reinstalling and transferring. (I also need to have my pop around.) :P.
And my parents play LOTRO, EQII and my dad plays EVE.

Re: Issues running games.
did you delete all the hidden CSS stuff? I know some programs like to hide user info for settings and stuff on your hard drive. I am not sure if steam does that. I wouldn't do a full reinstall just yet. Check all the drivers for you network connection on your computer first, make sure those are updated. And i know it may seem stupdi, but try a different plug on the router or on your computer( if it has 2 connections).
