AMD? Intel counterpart?

I have no problem with you wanting to use Linux. I am just tired of people that don't have Vista, and some who have never had Vista, bitching about it just because it is Vista, and is a Microsoft product. It's your computer, so I could care less what you put on it, I am just sick of hearing about how those of us that have Vista, and get it to work flawlessly are somehow inferior.

Rant of, back to finding you a laptop.

I have used Vista before. It never worked well enough for me to be happy. Games wouldn't run programs wouldn't perform as well in it.

How long has it been though? I've not found anything that wouldn't run on Vista at this point. Lots has changed in a year since the retail launch.

um, I left Vista in September/August time frame.

Lots has changed since Aug/Sept of 07... A lot of major hotfixes came out in that timeframe to address compatibility issues. I couldn't play 2142 or BF2 for more than a round or two before it crashed with memory errors. If it wasn't the memory errors, it was my hunk-o-crap Creative card having driver issues. The hotfixes were applied and I dumped Creative for good and now I have very few problems.
