Question for the electronically educated
I don't remember much about circuits, and I also don't know much about the various interconnects inside my PC.
But here's the story. I have a dual boot machine with XP and Vista. I use a REALLY old SBLive 5.1 soundcard in XP. In Vista obviously I can't get that to work, so I am going to use my onboard sound.
From my SBLive card, I have a 3.5mm stereo plug that connects to a cable that converts into L/R RCA plugs, and I plug those into an old stereo I have, so I can put the sound out to these giant floor speakers. I am thinking of putting a 3.5mm stereo splitter at the stereo plug which is currently plugged into the SBLive, and one 3.5mm plug will go from the splitter into the SBLive, and the other 3.5mm plug from the splitter will go into the onboard sound. Since the SBLive and onboard sound would never be used at the same time (XP only and Vista only respectively), this would not create any sound problems, and I'd never have to change the input on my stereo. However, it seems to me that I'd have the outputs of both soundcards linked together, or essentially at the same potential, if I remember anything from electronics. Is this bad... am I creating a short through my motherboard?

Honestly, I dont think you will have a problem since the cards will not (and can not) output at the same time. Give it a shot... but it shouldnt hurt anything.

See you bitches later B)
Well...if you haven't already noticed Parlock has been banned, basically for having an opinion.
Get ready for mine:
Let me tell you something about owning and operating a website, its hard. It's really fucking hard. There is obviously a right way of doing things and a wrong way of doing things, it seems a certain someone is choosing the wrong way.
A year ago I was given my website, Serenity Isles (google it); at this point in time I had several staff members who were previously above me now finding themselves as my subordinates. I didn't like a handful of them and I could have just gone and removed them from the team in an instant, bringing in members whom I felt I could trust to work with me. I didn't. Nope...I went ahead and left the team alone, letting it run as I sat back and observed how people did things. Now and then I'd step in and let them know that we were going to improve something or change how we did something.
In the end, letting people learn to work with me rather than wiping out the entire staff and putting people I "knew and trusted" in charge, worked for the better of the site.
From what I have seen and been told, through screenshots and the like, bigdog does not have the same ideas of running a site as I do, granted this is just a forum with a "few" active members....a few active members who happen to /like/ one another. A few active members who get along well with one another and have a well established community.
And you want to rip that to shreds? You want to say that there's no use for the chatbox? You basically want to come in here and do what you want before understanding how things work?
You, sir, are why the site will fall apart.
I'm leaving. I'm done. Parlock was banned for what? Resigning? Or being a "passive aggressive douche"?
I think we all know the real answer.
So I'm done. Gone.
You wanna follow me? Kaylibayne @ hotmail.com is my MSN or welshkorgii is my AIM and welshkorgii is my steam
I am logging out.
It was fun while it lasted, guys. I'll miss all of you :']
PS: Kagato: I meant to keep our PM chain going since I enjoy a good, intelligent discussion...sadly I got caught up in a research paper. Until next time
End Transmission.

So that people know where I am going, where to find me, and why I'm leaving?
Obviously.

Sigh, i read the first line of your post and stopped. You clearly have only one side of the story.
The other side: PadLock was banned for threatening to sabotage these forums.
Not for having an opinion, but threatening to sabotage the forums when what he (padlock) wanted differed from what BigDog thought the forums needed.
Regardless, seems another thats so quick to turn on everyone..

Who changed my status? I didn't know I had given anyone that right. Can you explain why it was changed? Why am I needed around this place?
Also, for future reference, I am of the female species...please don't ever call me a male.
Also, since I have been misinformed, please provide me with a screenshot of Parlock threatening to sabotage the forums. Did he threaten DDoS? Hacking? I am seriously confused here.
My "side of the story" is backed up with screenshots of discussions and I based my opinion on that.

Your a long time member from what i see, with concerns. That's pretty valuable to me...
My apologies, again, i do not know folk here (as mentioned here: http://www.left4deadforums.com/446304-post38.html)
No need for an 'us vs them' ideology (though ironically, i suppose i started that didnt i?). I am here to help, I am not here to force any to adhere to my ideologies. Leme finish playing catch-up reading all these posts i missed? So i can knowledgeably address concerns and counter points...
