new system
The G/F is in dire need of a new system. This system is beyond Archaic. This sytem is running a whopping 127megs of RAM and locks up pathetically often. We spent today at Best Buy, Circuit City and a couple local places also online at Dell. There are so many different systems out but I just dont know exactly what to get. We are trying to keep the cost reasonable but still get a decent system. I know if we get Vista we need to run at least 2 gigs of RAM, but there are so many proccessors, motherboards, and such out today.
Need recomendations for a simple system that will run BF2, have a little horsepower for the next updates and run MS office. Trying to keep the whole system under $1000. I wish I had the know how to build a system but that is technically beyond me.. anything OTB that I can rely on?

Re: new system
You could get a Dell XPS 630 with XP. Just their standard configuration for it is a really good pc with an 8800 GT video card. But, it runs around $1200 without a monitor or Office. Office just by itself is a couple hundred so I assume you are pricing a machine without it. The good thing about Dell is that you can pay by the month and don't have to front all the cash at once.
They have some inspiron systems but video card solutions are very weak.
Also, might want to check out this place.

Re: new system
Thanks guys! that Cyberpower place has all kinds of stuff! (I see Christmas here) Thanks La_Merc. So you'll love this, I spent all day going through putting stuff together trying to get everything just right.. So she goes and buys a used system from some guy for $700.. sigh Why do we do it?. I will admit its a decent sytem. AMD 4200, 2gigs DDR2, X1950 PRO 256meg DDR3 video card. 320 gig HD. I hate to admit she might have done alright strictly by accident.
