Looking for a good LCD
I am building a new system, and am running into difficulties in the monitor department.
I want to get a nice LCD monitor to free up my desk space from this ancient 20" beast of a CRT I have.
So, I started shopping for LCDs, and MAN are there a lot of them. Obviously, I want something that has a good gaming refresh rate and resolution for my gaming needs. This is a priority before movies and other forms of input/playback.
There is much opinion on LCD input lag, so I'm trying to minimize the input lag but am less concerned with this as I will deal with a little lag to regain some desk space.
Any advice from people here would make me happy.

Are you looking for a Square format monitor, or a widescreen? I find Acer makes a fine quality 19" LCD (not widescreen) for a very affordable price. On newegg...

The edges of the monitor are black, and that slightly helps for a more immersive experience in-game, without a distracting border for the monitor.
Otherwise give Samsung a try, they usually have the best quality stuff for the best price."In matters of style, swim with the currents... in matters of principle, stand like a rock."

That samsung is a great place to start, but its only 1680x1024 which is a fine resolution - if you want 192x1200 you need a 24-27 incher -
I have a dell 24 inch that I absolutely love but several companies offer very nice 24 inchers, I think jason has one he would recommend.
With dell if you look around the internet you can find coupon things and if you wait for a combo of a coupon and one of their instant savings you can cut quite a bit off the price.

Re: Looking for a good LCD
I think I want the widescreen formats. I'm probably going to be buying two of them as well.
Infact, Lets assume I"m gonig to target 1920x1200, WS unless there is a killer monitor of lesser ability at an unbeatable price.
There are soo many different monitors, I swear.
Now I just need to wait for the Q9950 processors to release for purchase and I'm gonna have a nice system.

Re: Looking for a good LCD
I have a three year old ( and 2 models) version of this:
DELL ULTRASHARP 2408WFP 24 inch monitor
My wife has the 2407.
I have absolutely no complaints and as I mentioned Dell often does instant savings and if you hold out you can find a coupon that can be combined for great savings. I would bet you could get one for under 550 if you play your cards right.
On top of that if you are not happy in anyway with the screen dell will make it right. I have heard of them exchanging their LCDs because people dont think the color quality is up to par, or for as little as a single stuck pixel. Many companies wont exchange till you cross some magical number of fuckedup pixels.
Just remember with 1920x1200 your going to end up replacing your video card to stay near the top of the line far more often than with a lesser resolution.
