I guess I'm just a big techno geek as I usually can't wait to try out the latest and greatest thing. I usually try to jump at whatever is new out that will benefit me and I can afford. Change can be hard though, but just think, you will have to make it eventually. Do you want to make that change now or wait it out to see if it'll fit your style more?
If you know someone that has it, I'd suggest you go check out their comp and see how it works and if you'd think you'd like it. Or if all else fails, go to some store like Best Buy and just mess around with one of their machines. Those machines are usually sub-par and have just the basics but should still allow you to see some of the neat features Vista has to offer. Ask someone working there too what they think, some of them can be very knowledgable while others will just say anything to get a sale.

Re: Vista or XP?
Keiron, are you running Vista 64bit with CSS? Or anyone else running it?
I just talked to a friend who has Vista 64 but he has not been able to run CS on it at all. He has xp on another HD and has to run CSS on that instead....That being my primary game, would like to make sure it'll run on V64.
On that note, I'm looking on newegg lists this Vista OS as "OEM", is this all I need since I'm building it from scratch?

Yeah that's all you'd need. It actually has SP1 on it too so that'll save you some DL time on the updates.
And yes, I run all the games linked in my profile fine. I haven't tried 2142 lately, but I know it works as many other people have it working on their Vista 64 machines.
The only problems I have with CS or any Steam game are the typical Steam errors (HL2.exe error every now and then, sound is set to 2/4 speakers instead of Headphones or whatever it is I'm actually using), but those are typical problems that I had even with XP.
As I mention earlier (might have been another thread though), I have lately been having a problem where almost any game will lock up and "blue screen" but it really just goes black. That is a driver error with nVidias beta drivers. I have switched back to the WHQL driver, but I haven't tested it yet, but since that was the only change I made and that is what Vista is telling me the problem is, everything should be running fine again.
