Windows XP SP3 is now live

That is the big file that you can copy and use on multiple machines. It is 342 Mb in size. So large because it should deal with every update since SP2 came out.

If you want more info, read here, there are some cool functions that are worth noting. Read for yourself though, you're too old for me to summarize it for you and have you blame me for something not working right.

Of course, it is also available through Windows Update for a single machine at a time and will only download what it needs.

If I didn't have bandwidth limitations to my own personal FTP space, I'd host it there. never had to pay data overages on that account, not sure how much that would hurt.

And yes, same rationale Braddoc, i downloaded it here at work, only took like 8 minutes on their connection

defintely READ the overview, there are some very interesting things in there, at least to me interesting from an IT tech viewpoint

Was this not released months ago back in March? I remember we used it at the bank my brother works at when I was there for Spring Break. Maybe they didn't have it released to the public yet...I know I found it online too though and used it on a number of machines that I worked on.

so I read the specs about it and still dont have one question answered..... if i install this on an unauthorized copy of xp, it wont ask me for the key and/or validation will it? If anyone has done this on a similar situation, let me know if it works..

The link I gave you seems to work for the copy of XP we have at worked. It didn't work for my version of XP Professional here at home.

I just finished the Windows Update version. I'm going to go find dinner then I'll come back and mess with it some more.

ANd I think I saw that question answered in either the FAQ or the overview, I can't remember which. But I'm hungry, back alter.

Well they (MS) just started pushing XP SP3 out on Automatic Updates because all the sudden this evening there it is. . . that little yellow shield with the exclamation point. Now, to download or not. . .

Sure the rollup of all previous hot fixes and what not would be great on a new install, but is there any reason to run SP3 on a machine already fully updated. The $20k question is: will it mess up my BF2142 or improve it?
