New DVD burner... SATA or IDE?

I have built probably 3 or 4 machines in the past with all IDE devices. The current box I have is the first where I ever used SATA (on the HDD) and it works great. Now I need to get a new DVD-R and could go either way... SATA or IDE. I've never used a SATA optical drive yet. Is there any reason to choose one over the other? I'm guessing SATA just since it seems to be newer and more prevalent (and the cable is so much easier to route ).

    Thanks!

SATA has its benefits over IDE. If you don't know all the technical stuff though, you might not understand the difference or relevance (hell I know I don't the exact specifics still). But SATA is suppose to run better and it gets ride of the hassle of those big ugly IDE cables.

If i remember right an optical drive still doesnt max out a IDE cable so your not gaining anything other than the smaller wire. I would go with sata though.

Having just replaced my drive recently with an ASUS DRW-1814BLT. It is so choice. If you have the means, I highly recommend picking one up.
