BF2142 Patching problem w/ new install

O.K. so I made the leap to Vista, and (knock on wood) it went smoothly, and everything seems to be humming along o.k. (Actually better than O.K.- I went with the 64 bit version, ans it really does seem to be multi-tasking better now)

The one problem with the new installation is this: The BF2142 patch exe isn't running. It acts like it's starting, asks permission to run, and then nothing. The BF2 patches, expansion packs, etc. have all loaded right up- It's just this one stinkin' patch that isn't responding, even running as an admin, etc.

Thoughts??

No good- When I try installing Northern Strike it craps out and says, "Hey dumbass, you have to have BF2142 version 1.2 or higher to run this patch!"

ah well the sorta same happened to me I bought the store copy and tried to patch and it would not let me.
The game already had the patch installed on the edition that I bought.

maybe a magnet and some water will help.

WileE wins the gold star on this one- I was already downloading from anouther source- Gamer's Hell I think?- and it worked like a champ. Looks like the filefront patch is crap. I'm sure WileE's source would have worked too.

Now I just have to figure out how to keep it from dieing when I try to join a server.

Yeah, if memory serves there's a couple bad copies of the patch floating around. Guess EA doesn't give a shite.
