HELP!!! Driver errors over and over

Something has gone terribly wrong with my computer. I've got an ATI Mobility Radeon X1400 in a Dell Inspiron. I get weird graphics errors when i play games.

At first, i had my graphics card set up with the good old Dell Driver that's made for the card. Its the same driver that came with the laptop. (I've reformatted a lot since i got it). Here is where i downloaded it. I got errors with it.

Then, i got referred to the Omega Drivers in this thread i started a few months ago. Still got errors.

Every time i reinstall drivers, the errors go away for a day or two, and then they come back. Here are the errors:

When i play CS:S and join a server, i retrieve server info and send client info, but as soon as the game starts to start up, it minimizes, closes and gives me this error:
Code:
Internal driver error in IDirect3DDevice9::Present()
If it helps, Xfire gives me a little notification that my game crashed, and here's what it says:
Code:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?>

<ExceptionReport Version="4">
<Application Build="31956" Command=""c:\program files\steam\steamapps\black_mamba8\counter-strike source\hl2.exe" -steam -game cstrike "/>
<OperatingSystem Type="2"><Version Major="5" Minor="1" Build="2600"/></OperatingSystem>
<Exception Code="C0000005" Address="0EAF7E13"><Module Section="0001" Offset="00016E13" FileName="c:\program files\steam\steamapps\black_mamba8\counter-strike source\bin\vguimatsurface.dll"/></Exception>
<Registers EAX="0323F820" EBX="0EB7A8B0" ECX="0BE30840" EDX="00000000" ESI="0BE30840" EDI="0EB9406C" CS="001B" EIP="0EAF7E13" SS="0023" ESP="0012FB9C" EBP="00000000" DS="0023" ES="0023" FS="003B" GS="0000" Flags="00210213"/>
</ExceptionReport>
I don't really know what all that means, except that my game crashed.

When I play TF2, same thing happens. I join a server, send client info, all that jazz, and then i get a different error:
Code:
Internal driver error at Present.
You're likely out of OS Paged pool Memory!
So, TF2 is a little more helpful. Apparently i don't have enough paged pool memory? I have 2 gigs of ram and 5 gigs set aside on my harddrive for 'virtual memory' or whatever it's called. And i think my graphics card has 256mb of memory, which isnt impressive, but it should definitely be enough to run a freaking game.

Two days ago, i thought i had figured it out. I was reading this forum post on halflife2.net, and i read this:
ALSO, Valve has found that a few AntiVirus programs have been interfering with steam (giving it 100% process priority and causing freezes). Specifically mentioned are AVG 7.5 and NOD32.
(Link source: http://forums.steampowered.com/forum...d.php?t=603853 )
And i was using AVG 7.5! Woohoo, problem fixed, right? No. I deleted AVG and got avast!, and again, i didnt get any errors for a day or two. Then today, i can't run CSS or TF2 again. I want to cry

P.S. Sorry for the uber-long post, but i figured if somebody's going to help me, they need all the info they can get. Do you think my graphics card got busted? I go pretty easy on my little inspiron, carrying it in a case whenever i bring it somewhere, etc. I don't think it should be broken.

1. How do i delete custom skins.

2. I'm running tf2 windowed on about a fourth of my resolution with every single option as low as it goes. Its pitiful.

3. What program, exactly?

And, did you get these exact errors? Do you have the same card as me?

Woah dang! All i did was delete a few of the folders in my cstrike folder and CSS started up! I'm in the main server right now. I'm not convinced however, since i've had temporary success before. I'll keep you updated. My prediction: it'll work today, then not again tomorrow.

Get Driver Cleaner Pro and use that to wipe all the video drivers off your machine, reboot. Then reinstall the latest video drivers from Dell. Reboot. Reinstall DirectX.

Driver Cleaner Pro can be downloaded here:

DirectX can be downloaded here:

Hmm, thanks for the DirectX download link. I had been looking for that. I tried it, we'll see if it helps.

Update: with that DirectX update, now TF2 works. I also played some Far Cry today (awesome game) and it worked like normal: sucky graphics, but no errors! Thanks guys, unless something comes up in a day or two, i think you fixed my problems!

Awesome. Keep checking the DirectX link periodically. They issue updates every 3 or 4 months for performance and adding additional support for newer games. Whenever I update my video drivers, I always re-apply the latest DirectX to my machine as well. Just a habit I've gotten into over the last 10 years or so and it's almost never steered me wrong.
