CoD4 is Blue Screening!

Okay, my dad recently installed the latest nvidia drivers, because Rainbow 6 Vegas 2 blue screened on me. Then i played CoD4, it was fine, except it would lock up for like 10 seconds then I'd go to task manager and switch back to CoD4 and it would work again. Now it doesn't just lock up, it locks up, and then blue screens me. This happens usually after about 9 or so minutes. Today I got 108 kills in a shipment match, and then it blue screened me (I had also gotten 3 challenges done). Setting the graphics lower doesn't help either. By the way i have 2 Nvidia 8600s with SLI enabled, and I use the 2 graphics cards setting on CoD4, and it still blue screens. Any advice?

time to upgrade

maybe the new drivers are unstable with SLI 8600.

check the nvidia forums?

Do you think reinstalling CoD4 will help?

sounds like a graphics problem, but uninstalling won't hurt. remember to save your profile.

Ok, I'll try that. Also, i forgot to mention, my dad likes to tinker with the computer, and sometimes he causes some problems, you guys think that could be it?

I've installed drivers manually myself from the nvidia site and they have been the wrong ones (for whatever reason). Do this

1) Hit your "Start" key on your keyboard and the "Pause Break" key at the same time.

2) That should bring up your system properties. Hit the Hardware tab

3) Click Device Manager

4) Click display drivers. This should show your graphics card (mine reads "NVIDIA GeForce 8800 gts")

5) Double click your video card name. This brings up yor vid card properties.

6) Hit the Drivers tab, then click update drivers.

7) It's pretty self explanitory from there.

These steps will have your computer automatically update the drivers for your vid card.

Should this be done before, or after reinstalling CoD4?

Rock lobster, I did what you said to do, and it didn't let me get another update, but luckily I'm not blue screening anymore, I'm just locking up.
