    Choices... hmm

Ok, so I just bought a new mobo and graphics card not only 2-3 weeks ago.

    My purchase was:

    Asus M2N-SLI Deluxe Motherboard

    EVGA 8800GT 512MB

So, now I either want to get a new processor or go ahead and use my step-up program (74 days left).

If I use the step-up program, I would get the EVGA 8800GTS KO 512mb Original Cost: $379

Cost after sending 8800GT in: $199

If I get a processor, I would get

    AMD Athlon 64 X2 6400+ Windsor 3.2GHz 2 x 1MB L2 Cache Socket AM2 125W Dual-Core Processor

    Cost of processor: $163

    Keep in mind, right now I have a AMD Athlon 64 X2 4800+ Brisbane 2.5GHz 2 x 512kb AM2 65W Dual-Core

Which one guys? You haven't let me down so far with the advise.

I say go for the CPU. I don't think you would see much of a difference between those graphics cards(That is worth$200), but i could be wrong.

It's the KO version (knock out version), which means its overclocked. Theres not much difference at all.

8800GTS KO - Core Clock 678MHz, Memory Clock 1944MHz (effective) and 128 Stream Processors
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...2b8800GTS%2bKO

    8800GTS - Core Clock 670MHz, Memory Clock 1940MHz and 128 Stream Processors
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130325

Note: These are newegg prices and not EVGA prices. The step up programs requires you to go through EVGA and not a vendor such as newegg.

The vidcard is not going to get you $200 worth of extra performance.

BTW, the factory overclocked vidcards are never worth extra money. My stock 8800GTS (G92) OCed to 700 Mhz on the GPU and 2100 Mhz on the memory.

its not worth spending 200 more on graphics when you already have a nice card. go with the processor if you feel the need.

Persian, are you on the wackytabacky again?
the GTSes in that article are all of the G80 flavor and an 8800GT should beat them. Modern GTS cards are G92 flavor and are exactly like the GT, but with more shaders.

Thats weak sauce for the KO..678 670 Core isnt much of a difference.....Get the cheaper GTS and OC it yourself...

my 8800GTS 640mb G80 core whoops on your GT anyday....Especially with evga's new Precision software..G15 interface includes GPU temps, hotkey on the fly overclock, up to 10 different profiles can be saved.... http://www.evga.com/articles/405.asp

I'd go with the processor, that's a pretty god price for a fast chip.

Or you could always throw some water on your graphics card, and log into the CS server, so we all can exact our revenge.
