    HSF making a chirping noise

I have a Zalman CPNS9500 HSF that is about 18 months old. It is now starting to make a very quiet (but still somewhat annoying) chirping noise from time to time. Should I just give the bearings a drop of tri-flow oil or something?

you may want to make sure there is no debris in the fan or its bearings.

I am all about a drop of Tri-Flow or some Boeing T-7 right in the bearing there.

Spray the fan out good with compressed air and then lube it up... fixes all my squeaks.

either its debris OR i noticed when i got my zalman 9700 that the fan was tilted back a little bit so everyonce and a while if would actually hit the heatsink

so i just bent it a little more out

Yeh, mine was like that too which is pretty shitty manufacturing IMO (I had to bend it when I first installed it because it was way off center, scraping on one side). But if the fan blades were scraping the heatsink blades now, I'd be hearing a click and not a chirp. I will try lubing the bearing when I get a chance.
