Nvidia, Intel, AMD, SLI, Crossfire, and you

    here is an interesting article:
    http://www.fudzilla.com/index.php?op...=7713&Itemid=1

If that ends up being true, then you will not be able to run SLI with newer Intel CPUs and, just to make things fun, AMD could easily end Intel's license to use Crossfire on Intel Chipsets leaving AMD CPUs as the only game in town that works with multiple GPUs. Furthermore, what if AMD wanted to end Nvidia's ability to create chipsets for AMD CPUs, leaving Spyder as the only multi-GPU option?
Wouldn't it be nice if any motherboard that had two PCI-E X16 slots could use SLI and/or Crossfire?

The fortune teller in me says that Nvidia and Intel will work this out because they both want to make money.
It seems like there is too much convergence in this market to me.
    Sleep, eat, conquer, meditate, repeat.

It would be great to have other players on the market. Anything to give consumers more options and to keep prices down.

Great article especially since I love seening the big guy take a fall even though its probably only going to result in a slight stumble once they both start to work together again.

nVidia is working on a processor that is slated to compete against the Intel Atom processor, but will have embedded graphics capabilities. Looks like it's slated for ultracompact laptops, pdas and smartphones.

Cell processors aren't x86-based, so their only real application was in the console they were intended for and some high-end number crunching workstations.

    SLI Crossfire

They do good when playing at high res 1920x1200.

Sure you can get good frames on your card but at what cost?

Max AA and AF you can kiss that good bye.
Max texture and view distance you can kiss that good bye as well.

    I want those.
Plus with all the new games coming out UT3, Crysis, Conan, TF2, and COD4.

You want max settings, AA and AF at full blast, and to run at high res you better pony up your cash.

If not just run it at medium settings and that is just fine.

Plus to get good frames like 60+ you will need two cards.
