    GeForce 7900GTX

Hey guys - looking for some advice here...

    I have a Dell XPS:

    Duo Intel 3.2 Ghz
    2GB Ram
    GeForce 7900Gtx

I've been noticing for a long time now some performance problems when playing CSS - namely my fps. I get anywhere from 35-95 fps on d2 for example depending on the situation I am in. What would you suggest for me to upgrade first if anything. Is there anything else I can do w/o buying anything to increase performance as well?

Assuming it is the video card that is my problem what would be a good upgrade?

For less than half the 9800's price you can get

It really depends on how much you want to spend though. If you're looking for a videocard for games between CS to battlefield, you won't benefit from the extra power the 9800 brings out... I get between 120-180ish fps with my 8800. If you want to invest in future games... or really want to play crysis with anti-aliasing and all video settings on max, go with the 9800.

edit: here's the 9800 for comparison

I don't know what I get on D2 exactly, but I get like 80-120 in italy.

    I have a

    Core 2 duo 3.0 ghz
    3 gigs of DDR2 667 ram
    and a 7600GS

maybe the graphics card isn't the problem? I think I have everything on high. If I play on D2 tonight, I'll keep an eye on the fps to get a good number.

    Thanks for the info guys-

I'll probably try upgrading my memory first while doing some in game tweaking to see if that helps. Then eventually the card.

    Re: GeForce 7900GTX

I play on a laptop 2G RAM, 2.0 Core 2 Duo and a ATI Mobility Radeon X1300 and keep 100 fps through most things except for heavy smoke. Nothing that really impairs the game (of course I run everything on lowest settings). Are you running any kind of performance cfg? They can make a big difference. I would recommend casey v2 or CEVO fps config. Both will improve performance over default settings. I would try that before spending any cash unless you want to upgrade to something for future games.
