    Fedora and TF2?

    http://www.fsckin.com/2007/10/15/how...tu-using-wine/

shows ubuntu users how to get it running. I use fedora, emulated the same thing he does with the exception of sudo etc. but I am curious why mine does not run. Is it because I have an ATI card? Anyone have a thought? imo that is the reason, just looking for other things that could be the culprit.

I got a NVid TNT2 card running compiz better than my "gaming" computer's ATI x1600...

If worst comes to worst I must wait till mid summer when I get my Ubuntu Laptop from Dell

Now I see why so many people bag on Vista. My TF2 works fine BTW, as do every other game I have that TTP hosts, and Civ4.

I would say thats the case, have your tried ATI's close soruce drivers?

I am rocking a ATI card at work pushing two monitos and I too am wishing for a nvidia.

From me, what would give you that idea? All you smarter than everyone linux red hat peons that can't run any damn programs, but boy are you safe from hackers. Well no crap. The hackers already know your crap don't work, so why waste time trying to break something that is already broken?

see civil, that is half the fun for many of the linux users out there. Making things work. When we get it to work for us it is the same feeling I'd imagine a car mechanic gets when there was the buzz that he at first could not figure out what it was then he tinkered a bit and he shifts this piece just that much and boom the sound is gone.

Same goes for linux users. We find something we'd like to have linux do and we work on it. Try different configs and different sorts of commands etc to make things work. I have a friend who whole heartedly welcomes viruses on his computer. (yeah he is a weirdo) but he enjoys the puzzle of removing that S.O.B. he likes to learn how it initially got into his system and how he can further prevent the virus from occurring rather than take some anti-virus's word that he will not get infected.

That's what the beauty of VMWare is for. I've got VMWare images for a dozen or so OSes that I can use when researching viruses/malware.
