    Mic boost

I am having some issues with people not being able to hear me very well lately. Ive heard it today in css, tf2, and dod:s. I have the voice settings in steam maxed out in each game. The mic settings in the system tray maxed out also. Anyone know of a way to boost mic volume? or a program that could boost the mic volume (legit)?

I dont think I have this problem on vent it seems to be Steam

Under Advanced options for Sound (Windows), isn't there a 20dB Mic Boost Option?

Try reinstalling your sound card drivers (or which ever ones you use). Of course, you can also go to the Audio tab of Sound and Video options under the Control Panel to make sure your input is set to Mic.

    Re: Mic boost

What sound card? I recently ran a test with a few soundcards and found radically different mic input levels, even with boost turned all the way up for each card. Right now I know of no decent soundcard that works in Vista 64 and has acceptable (to me) mic input levels (I haven't tried ASUS Xonars yet). I'm using the bgears b-enspirer which has great audio output but only about half the mic input level of my old Creative card that won't work in Vista. For my mic input I'm using my onboard Realtek chip which is sufficiently loud (although the Realtek output sucks, hence the bgears card).
