    BF2/Vista/Ping Questions

Today I played BF2 on vista for the first time at the same location and internet connection I have been playing while on XP. My ping usually is around 50 with XP but when I played on Vista it shot my ping up to an average of 100-150 I even got kicked once for a high average ping.

It is running BF2 with XP compatibility and admin rights.

Here are the system specs for the computer with vista

Windows Vista 64 Bit with SP1
    4 GB Ram
    1 TB Hard Drive Space
    nVidia 8600 GeForce 8600 GT
Intel core 2 quad CPU 2.66 gHz

Also it is running on a wireless connection to the desktop

Is there any way to fix this problem if so let me know what i can try

    Thanks,
    texdirect6

I run Vista Home Premium 64, and I don't have any problems with ping or lag. I have noticed maps load a tiny bit slower, but nothing different in game. Were you running wireless on XP?

First test i would try is running a piece of CAT5 to the Vista machine. Depending on your router and/or wireless network card that could be the culprit.

I don't run BF2 in XP Compatibility mode, just as Administrator. Wireless drivers for Vista seem to be extremely hit or miss. Like Civil said... definitely try to eliminate the wireless factor and go wired and see... Then see if there's firmware updates for your wireless adapter and possibly driver updates from the manufacturer.

I had same issue ---- make sure you launch the game 'as an administrator' (fixed the issue for me)
