    Re: GTX 280

Maybe Nvidia needs to lengthen its product cycle from 6 months to 1 year. This way it can out with products that are truly a leap ahead from the last.

This card can't even beat my 9800GX2. And mine is the older model.

I really hope Ati comes out with something good.

Would be nice to whip out 8xAA without that decline in performance.

Hmmm.. your 8800GT oughtta handle way better than 4xAA at that resolution. My 8800 GTS 640 runs at 16Q at 1600x1200 which is considerably larger. Your GT smokes my old school GTS.
On COD4 is where it hits the most. I get very decent FPS on SP running 1440X900, my frames are more than halved if I turn Anti-Aliasing to 4. I think thats as far as I can go with my card, never tried more than 4. AF doesnt hit performance as hard, actually its unnoticeable with the 8800GT. I keep telling myself maybe I need a fresh install since I didnt install windows again after installing the card. I did all the other stuff with drivers, cleaning and what not, but maybe the fresh windows install will help.

Did anyone checkout the 3-way SLi GTX280 water cooled featured on eVGA's website. Looks great, I think it's setup to where all water blocks from the 3 cards are connected to each other.

Grrrrr... And here I just spent 800 dollars a couple months ago on a couple of 8800GTX cards.

Oh well. That upgrade will last me a couple years. Next step is to upgrade my 4800+ X2 cpu and memory. Going Quad Core Intel next.

Krakkens and shit. stop tempting them.

    meh...
most sites benchmarking it do not show a huge improvement over the 9800/8800 cards.
A bit expensive for what you are getting to me. Besides, my 8800GTS G92 plays all source and battlefield games at my monitor's max resolution with full details and max quality settings no problem. This seems to be a card for two groups: Those that play at extreme resolutions and benchmark whores.
