    HELP Needed!

Ok fellas I think I have fucked up my comp. I don't know what the hell happend. I admit I was gaming on in pretty hard and then I decided to do a 3D Benchmark. Ran it and it was stressin it out. After it finished, I decided to do a restart. As I restarted the computer (through windows), and I got a couple of error messages however I did not look at them and just "ok'd" them (STUPID STUPID). As it was powering down I got the enfamous BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH for only 1 sec. Then it restarted. It went through its normal routine until it gets ready to load Windows and is gives me "Windows could not start because of the follow file is missing or corrupt: "
<windows root>\system32\ntoskrnl.exe that is the file that is missing or corrupt.

I DO NOT have the Windows XP OS Disk nor do I have the serial number. So if yall can come up with a way of fixing this piece of shit without the OS disk that would be great.

    Thanks,
    AG

Depending on the manufacturer of your computer, there may be a backup partition on your hard drive that can be used for recovery. I know HP does this. In this case, there should be a boot option somewhere (again depending on the manufacturer) that lets you enter recovery mode. For my computer you can make this selection during the blue bootup screen or during the black boot partition selection screen (just like when you have different multiple OS installed to different partitions). Other than that, at the moment the other option I can think of is to call up the manufacturer and ask for some recovery cds. Let me know if this doesn't work or is not possible for you, and I'll keep brainstorming.

I had a similiar Issue with my machine just very recently... turned out mine was overheating. so, removed all components, removed Cover from Very large video card, Aired it out well (had a layer of dust between the fan and the cooling coils 3/8" think), reset the chip with fresh thermal grease, Aired out all the fans... and back to business. A little maintenance was all mine was needing. You married folks know what I'm talking about,

Hope that helps, but I'm sure you've done all of that already.

can you get into safe mode? when it doubt system restore is your best friend.

try finding whatever that file is that is missing on the internet in another computer and saving it to a disc then running and dos and manually moving the file to wherever it belongs. That is if there really is a file missing.

Well, it sounds like it's his OS kernel... which would be very very bad. But, hey, if you can actually get it to boot into safe mode like Cojiro said, it would be MUCH easier than what I'm suggesting. It can't hurt to try
