I have 4gbs of ddr2-1066 and I had alot of chppiness when playing bf2 initially, but after increasing my vitual memory it seem to go away.
System specs:
Case: Coolermaster Stacker 830 (black)
Mobo: Asus P5N-T Deluxe 780i
Cpu: Intel Q9450 Oc'd to 3.2ghz
Cpu cooler: Zalman 9500 nt
Ram: OCZ 4 gigs of pc2 8500 (ddr2-1066) running at 945mhz with 4,4,4,12 2t timings
Video card: EVGA 9800gtx @ 700mhz
Sound card: Creative x-fi fatality
Hard drives: (1). WD Raptor 74gb, (2). 2 Maxtor 160 gb in raid 0
PSU: Coolermaster True power 750w
Mouse: Logitech G9
Keyboard: Logitech G15
Joystick: Saitek evo force
Monitor: Soyo Pearl 24inch
OS: Vista Ultimate 64 bit SP1
Cooling: All Air

i have half a tb of virtual memory on here . Im installing sp1 as we speak will post how it works shortly.

I also have DDR 400 PC3200. I have ASUS A8N32SLI Deluxe MB w/AMD 3800 dual core cpu. When I had similar configuration with different MB I had choppiness. Which MB do you have, I'll look it up. I believe you should be good with that ram @ 4gb.

Hmm
Same board. Here is a run down of what I did to correct the choppiness associated with Vista. Keep in mind I had XP x64 running on the same rig with no choppiness
1 Up the ram from 2gb to 4gb - No change in choppiness
2 Moved from a 6800 GS to 8800 GTS - No change in choppiness
3 Updated all drivers and bios for the MB - No change in choppiness
4 Installed service pack 1 - All choppiness went away

ive never updated the bios before, whats teh chance of success and failure?

There is a software DL on the Asus support page that does it for you. You DL the software and most current bios. Install the software, hit update bios it then ask you where the bios is on your computer so you point to the bios you DLed and it does the rest for you. I've updated twice with no problems.
