If you are going to update your BIOS be very careful. I've heard enough horror stories to make me very cautious. I've never done it, because that is always recommended as the very last step to fix a problem. "If it ain't broke don't fix it". Make sure you get the right BIOS or you could really mess shit up.

Yea, I've heard stories but never had a bad experience. I also hear stories about static electricity frying a MB but never had a single bad experience with that. Maybe I'm risky but I have never even used a static wrist guard thingy. The BIOS update does warn you that there is some risk involved but if it is that risky I don't think Asus would provide you the tools and info for such a procedures. The main thing is during the update it must always stay on. Can't have power loss. Never interupt a BIOS update and you will be cool. Since I have only been in this business for the past 8 years I believe these stories could be from much older equipment. You will never know how to do it if you are not willing to run the risk.
