    Re: ATI vs Nvidia

i've been an nVidia fan since my GeForce 4 440MX .. i tried the new and great Radeon HD 4870 ... good card... horrible drivers.. it took me about 5 hrs to finally give up trying to reinstall them after windows stopped booting for me. Stuck my 8800GT back in.. 10 min later im in TTP playin BF2 .. now im boating a GTX 260 and ATI can keep those cards until they know how to make drivers

    Re: ATI vs Nvidia

Funny you say that since ATI employs a variety of ex- nvidia driver coders and makes pretty damn rock solid and extremely functional drivers these days, and in fact do a better job of writing drivers for dual GPU solutions currently.

I am going to go ahead and call shenanigans and say your problems installing your 4870 were not the fault of the drivers.

In the 4850 CrossFire benchmarks we’ve seen so far, AMD has really learned to squeeze the performance out of its new cards. It looks like while a single Radeon HDhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radeon_R600 4850 performs in the same realm as the GeForce 9800 GTX, two 4850’s in Crossfire mode will completely decimate the dual-GPU GeForce 9800 GX2 and even put the hurt on the powerful new GeForce GTX 280. Remember, the GeForce GTX 280 costs about $80 more than two Radeon HD 4850 cards!

the 4850's are really powerful cards..
just make sure your games take full advantage of crossfire.. some are Pro nVidia and dont do well with AMD/ATI even with Crossfire

    Re: ATI vs Nvidia

I hope someone does another comparison. I'm beginning to shop around for computer parts, and the ATI vs. Nvidia thing is a big deciding factor.
