Nero, wtf
I use Nero a lot for simple burning tasks (audio CD's and data CD's). I just got a new burner and installed the free version that came with the burner (Nero Express 7 Essentials... think I was using 5 or 6 before). Not only did it require like 400MB to install (and I unchecked every feature I could to get it down from over 1GB), it now takes like 30 seconds to open up. WTF? It's a simple fucking burning program. It should take like 5 seconds to open and less than 100MB (at most) to install. What is the deal?
This one functions EXACTLY like the old one, same interface and all, and that one did not take 400MB and 30 seconds to load.

Any recommendations for a replacement?

Yeh, StartSmart. I wonder if it has to do with Vista 64.

I don't even use it for ripping CD's or burning ISO's (use CDDEX and DVDDecrypter for those tasks). I just want it for the very basic tasks of backing up data to disc, and making audio CD's (both drag and drop).

I use ImgBurn for everything. It takes about 2 seconds to open and is 2MB. The best part about it is that it's free.

It will burn audio CD's, make ISO's, burn ISO's, make data CD/DVD's.
I have used Nero, EMC, NTI and this by far does the same for me and is way less bloated.

I need to use Nero to rip CDs for work that iTunes can't rip. Some of them have this fancy little antipiracy measure that means any files you rip normally are only a few kilobytes in size instead of a few megabytes.
enf-Jesus its been like 12 minutes and you're already worried about stats?! :-P
Bigdog-Sweet home Alabama you are an idiot.
