Need a laptop please help!

Hi all,

I'm on the verge of buying a laptop (NOT FOR GAMING) I want 2 cores. This laptop will be mainly for audio apps. Basically the min specs on my apps are about 1.5ghz processor and 512mb ram so I don't need anything special. I think I've narrowed it down to these two choices.

This one is an amd core at 1.90 and has 2 gigs of ram. The 2 main things that are attracting me to this is that its first 100 dollars cheaper then my other choice and it has an audio out/in.

This one is an intel dual core at 2.0 and only 1gb of ram. Basically this one has a couple of good reviews(my other choice has no user reviews)

My question is which one is the best bang for the buck as they say....

I would go for a Core 2 solution over the AMD solution. But I have heard sketchy reviews of Toshiba laptops in the last few years. I in fact have one in the basement that "broke." Only a year and a half old when it just ceased working.

Dell Laptops are great, IBM makes the best (IMO) but they are expensive.

The core2duo will far outperform the amd solution. And I'm not biased. Both my current desktop and my laptop are AMD X2 systems. But with the core2duo, intel pulled ahead and hasn't looked back since.

But don't settle for 1 gig of ram. Upgrade that immediately to 2 or 4.

if you're doing audio compression and such, you are gonna want more ram....

otherwise, it's gonna be SLOOWWWWW using it :-P

and what do you mean audio? like, editing files and such? or just somethign to take to class and listen to music?

I just ordered my laptop. I wanted the 1525N from Dell. It would be a 15 inch inspiron laptop with Ubuntu Linux on it. However, I looked at the site and it was gone. Though I called and it was not available. So I was sad.

I just got a Gateway.

I ended up getting the toshiba. I use the laptop to run "serato scratch live" a timecode vinyl program for djing. I also use reason, soundforge(for recording) and logic 5.3. I will add ram in a few and I have a usb external soundcard. I just needed the laptop asap because I'm going to a festival in a week and needed something within my budget to bang out on.
