Need Help

Hey Guys
I have a brand new Gaming Sound card: SoundBlaster XiFi Extreme Gamer. And a new headset: Razer Barracuda.
Now the sound is beautiful I can hear cystal clear. The mic doesn't work. I plug in my old cheap logitech mic, and turn the mic boost on, and my team can hear me, but they complain about the background noise. The background noise is completly turned down and low and its in my headset.
Even when using my Razer mic, I can get the "test hardware" to read it, but it sounds like arse.
Any thoughts?
Drivers are up-to-date. Everything is plugged in right.

do you have vista? did you configure your mic?

I have that same headset with the razor barracuda sound card and have the same problem. I am running Vista x64. Updated all drivers. The mic works but players can barely hear me. The sound is also goofed up. I've tried serveral different configurations but no luck. It seems the the explosions are to laud or I can't hear the Helo I'm flying. Stuff like that. If anyone had this same combo and running it on BF2 plz let me know what you think because at this point I have giving up and using my $75.oo Plantronics USB headset which is great but sometimes lags in when sound is intense ie.. multiple explosions at once.

I have the barracuda headset also, and run it off of onboard 5.1 Surround and have NOO problems.

make sure you're using the right razor drivers, and that you don't have conflicting drivers.

also, this sounds REALLY stupid, but I made this mistake myself for a bit...on the inline sound adjustment, you can REALLY mess with ALOT of stuff there, so that could be why explosions are too loud and such....
