    Cable Digital/Analog??

So I am looking to buy a new cable tuner for my laptop I just purchased (save space in dorm room not having a TV when there is one in the common room).

I am looking to buy one this summer and I do not want to have any sort of issues come next year (Feb '09, when the standard goes to Digital, right? even if it is Feb '10)

Now my issue is. I do not understand the difference exactly. I mean yes I know the difference between an analog signal and a digital signal how ever the difference between tuners I do not.

I am looking at http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16815116029 bad larry right now. Would this Tuner do well w/the digital change coming up? I believe it will but I am not 100% sure. A little help?

The change over in February will switch the US from the NTSC to the ATSC standard; just look for tuners with ATSC capability. Retaining NTSC capability is probably a good thing (most tuners will be backwards-compatible), because I think the change only affects over-the-air broadcasting, and most dorms have some form of cable from a provider (over-the-wire).

    Video Decoder Hardware MPEG-2 encoder:
    TV Tuner NTSC/ATSC/Clear QAM
means the above linked is good to go! thanks Draco.

so it doesn't mean analog -> digital?
