Last year I cleaned out some of my closet boxes and sold a bunch of crap I would have never used again for like $300 total on eBay. Mobo's, vid cards, RAM, etc.

Yeah, I have intentions of doing that. Know anyone who needs a 386/40 with 4 megs of RAM?

Re: Can you name every PC you've ever owned?

Heh, we have a local business called "Free Geek" and we took, I shit you not, a small moving truck full of boxes of old parts my roomate and I cumulatively had. I had been collecting parts for about 20 years. I had a garbage bag of SIMMs by the end of it. There were a number of monitors and big old cases and other odds and ends...peripherals used to be so freakin' big! We had a 5mb external HDD for an AppleII that was about as big as a microwave.

it felt good to open up one side of the basement though!

I got rid of my major collection when I moved out of my parents' house. I had a CRAPLOAD of old PCs like Vic-20, C64, C128, etc that I sold at a yard sale. Most were reclaimed from other yard sales. I had 20-30 'classic' home computers/PCs.

    486DX2-66 (Both custom builds)
486DX4-100 (overdrive if I remember right)
Pentium 60 (custom with the floating point bug)
    Acer P100
    Pentium 200 (custom)
    Cyrix 233+ (custom)
P2 400 Xeon (custom from CDW I think)
    P3 650 (think it was actually a 666)
    P3 1.2Ghz (custom)
    P4 2 Ghz (custom)
Athlon 64 don't remember the speed... 2500 might be right (custom)
    Athlon FX53 (custom)
    Athlon X2 4800+ (custom) current

But that's not all my systems...

    Dell Inspiron 8000 laptop
    Dell Inspiron 8100 laptop
    Dell XPS Laptop
    Dell XPS2 Laptop
    Alienware M7700 laptop (current)

And that doesn't include ANY of my collection of old machines including a very rare Apple ]I[ that was never recalled. That's an interesting story... And I'm gonna tell you right now... Like it or not. The apple 3 was a TANK... steel construction and weighed a ton. The motherboard would flex when it heated up and the socketed chips would unseat themselves causing the machine to lock up and not boot. Take a guess what apple's pre-recall solution to that was... No... c'mon and guess... Ok fine. They suggested picking up the machine about 6 inches and DROPPING IT onto the desk. Whereupon the chips might reseat themselves. This was an 8000 dollar machine in 1980 and they were instructing people to toss it around like a toy.

The other interesting piece (though I have a number of them) is a brand new, in-the-box, AT&T 8086 machine. Still shrink wrapped. I think it was a many multiple thousand dollar machine at the time, and I bought it for 20 dollars I think 10 or 15 years ago.

I'm sure I missed a few of my systems in the list from the early PC years as I had a bunch... And most of the later ones are a constant stream of gradual upgrades and I just put the motherboard/cpu upgrades in the list. And it's only my primary system. I have had a few secondary systems for such things as home theatre systems.

    Just remember... You asked.
That is one hell of a collection. Where did you find that 8086 machine at?
