Mic sounds like S&^%!!!!

Well, since my upgrade my current Mic has been sounding like crap 80% of the time. The other 20% of the time it sounds fine, some of you know what I am talking about because one round it sounds fine then the next it sounds like crap! I have updated drivers, tried a diffrent PCI slot and am thinking that the cheap MoBo (Free) that came with my CPU from Fry's is the problem, I am using a Creative X-Fi eXtreme Audio, worked just fine on my last MoBo. Any Ideas?

Maybe uncheck that mic boost?

That helps when my Mic freaks out. When it is normal I have to have it on.

Post up your specs. Also what driver are you using? I have the same card.

hmmmmmmmmmmm.... I had this problem too. The fixer was a mic boost and then a new headset to get rid of a humming noise. so maybe your driver isent a good one. I had to update to get rid of the humming and having to use the boost. so give a driver update a try. if that deosent work get a new mice or just get a headset from best buy like i did. other than that. thats all i got to say. :5 :5 good luck

Well, I have a really nice 100 buck SteelSeries 5H. The card is the problem I think, I am also running XP.
